Week 31 – Student A’s Response: Plot Development

Standard

Plot development chart! Sometimes called an Event Map, this organizer helps students to summarize the plot.  It is not quite brainstorming, but it’s not outlining either.  Still, it is an important part of looking at any Victorian style novel.  Students struggle to pare down their ideas at first, but after a few attempts, they get the hang of it.  In the beginning, I give them a paper with the organizer already on it, but over time, they learn to make it for themselves.

Students doing a character compare and contrast paper still needed to do a plot map because it helped them get a better look at the growth of their character.
