Why this word? Last year we were talking about adverbs.  The students created a word wall out of them.  One student said that I teach in a special way, that I teach “merifully”.  My classes are both “merry” and “Merideth”.  Another student picked up on this and wrote the word carefully on yellow construction paper in green ink.  It lived on our window/word wall for the rest of the year.  At the end of the year, students were allowed to pick any words they liked off the word walls to take home.  One student decided I should keep “merifully”, and so it lives now on the LCD projector for all to see.

This tickles me to no end.  It makes me feel good about what I do.  There are the occasional thunderstorms, but mostly I hear that my classes are enjoyable.  Part of this is that I am really honest about my mistakes.  I am dyslexic.  I speak in “word salads” when I get tired.  But none of that is an excuse to have anything other than a rocking good academic work environment.  And that’s what we do.

Because of this, I can’t always blog when I want.  Everyday something happens that I would love to tell you, but right now I’m averaging about two posts a week.  I’ll try to keep this up.  We shall see.
